Together

You do not need a date to have a good evening. Go where people already gather, or gather your own.

Going solo, joining in

People often come here on their own. That is how they find their people.

The first ten minutes

A new place is easier when you know how to begin.

  1. 01

Come ten minutes early: before everyone arrives, it is easier to start talking.

  2. 02

Ask who is here for the first time — there are usually a few.

  3. 03

Take a small job off the organiser’s hands: setting out chairs beats any icebreaker.

  4. 04

Agree to come next time: strangers become your people by the second or third meeting.

  5. 05

Leave when you feel like it — politely, and with no explanations.

If nothing is nearby yet

The AbsoLive map keeps growing. If nothing is nearby yet, bring one person along or put your own activity on the map.

Gather your people

A group of your own comes together more easily than it seems: everyone brings one person.

Two plus two

Each of you brings a friend

How to gather

  1. Invite someone and suggest you each bring a friend.
  2. Pick an idea that is more fun with four: bowling, an escape room or board games.
  3. Agree how everyone gets home.

A table of 4–6

Everyone brings one person

How to gather

  1. Everyone brings one person the others do not know.
  2. Pick a place where you can hear each other: a quiet café, a board-game café or a park.
  3. Start with the “On the table” deck: the first question breaks the ice for everyone.

In a group

Four ground rules that keep the evening relaxed for everyone.

  • Agree in advance how everyone is getting home — especially if the evening ends late.
  • Not drinking is a normal choice, not a reason for questions.
  • A +1 is someone the person inviting them actually knows. And a +1 does not bring anyone else.
  • If someone at the table crosses a line, tell the organiser — or leave together.

The “On the table” deck

Questions that go round a table where not everyone knows each other. Any question can be skipped, and whoever has the brightest socks goes first.

Your people don’t have to be a romance. They’re the ones you want more evenings with.
