A reason

A three-step plan. It works in any city — with or without an activity on the map.

  1. Find an amateur choir or an open sing and ask the leader if you can come to a trial rehearsal.

  2. Stand in different sections and listen for each other across the room. Rule of the night: lose your place, smile, keep singing.

  3. Afterwards, compare which song is stuck in your head. If you feel like it, agree to come back.

If you come on your own

People come to a choir to sing, not to mingle, and that makes mingling easy: the same section-mates stand beside you every week.

First line

So the chat doesn’t stop at “hi”.

To one person

Want to come to a choir’s trial rehearsal with me? I’m great in the shower, untested in a choir. Let’s find out together.

To a group chat

There’s an open rehearsal at an amateur choir. No need to read music, just a little nerve. Who’s coming?

When

Up to three options make it easier to choose. Times are local to the place you meet.

Option 1
0 of 60

A place or a neighbourhood. A home address doesn’t belong in the link.

Everyone may bring along one person they know.

Meet safely

For this idea

Sing within your range and bring water: an untrained voice tires fast. Just listening at the first rehearsal counts too.

Before any meeting

  • Meet somewhere public the first time — and in daylight, if that feels calmer.
  • Plan your own way there and back. There is no need to share your home address.
  • Let someone close know where you will be and who with: send them the plan.

If you go as a group

  • Spread out across the sections: you’ll hear how the whole choir sounds, and you’ll have plenty to talk about at the break.
  • Agree in advance how everyone is getting home — especially if the evening ends late.

Talk

Three questions from the “Honestly?” deck. Any of them can be skipped.

  1. What do you always find time for, even when there is none?

  2. What weekend tradition do you already have — or are about to start?

  3. Which song can you never sit still through?
