A reason

A three-step plan. It works in any city — with or without an activity on the map.

  1. Choose a show together and check the description, age rating and prices.

  2. Make sure you’re both comfortable sitting near the stage and being part of the crowd work.

  3. Afterwards, each recall one funny moment and give the evening a title.

First line

So the chat doesn’t stop at “hi”.

To one person

Shall we go to a comedy night? Worst case, we end up with a shared story about jokes that fell flat.

To a group chat

Comedy night as a group? Even if the jokes are so-so, the debrief afterwards will be funnier. Who’s coming?

Up to three options make it easier to choose. Times are local to the place you meet.

A place or a neighbourhood. A home address doesn’t belong in the link.

Meet safely

For this idea

Comedy nights are often held in bars and finish late. Drinks are optional; plan the way home in advance.

Before any meeting

  • Meet somewhere public the first time — and in daylight, if that feels calmer.
  • Plan your own way there and back. There is no need to share your home address.
  • Let someone close know where you will be and who with: send them the plan.

If you go as a group

  • Sit together, and away from the stage if anyone would rather not chat with the comedian. Afterwards, one favourite joke from each.
  • Agree in advance how everyone is getting home — especially if the evening ends late.

Talk

Three questions from the “Honestly?” deck. Any of them can be skipped.

  1. What funny little thing do people usually come to you for?

  2. What recently made you say a heartfelt “wow”?

  3. What is a good thing to ask you on a day that hasn’t gone well?
